The health and wellbeing of our community is so important to us! For the first time, we are developing a health and wellbeing plan that will give us a clear picture of what health and wellbeing look like in Shellharbour. And importantly, what Council can do to help increase everyone's experience of health and wellbeing.

To do this we have identified four focus areas:

  • Eat Well
  • Move Well
  • Think Well
  • Connect Well.

These focus areas cover all the ways people in Shellharbour improve and maintain their health and wellbeing already, and the areas Council can help improve!

When we talk about wellbeing, we mean how you feel about yourself and your life.

When you think about the way you eat, move think and connect are they well balanced and positive? This is the question wellbeing aims to answer.

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not only the absence of disease.

When you think about the way you eat, move think and connect are they healthy and functional? This is the question health aims to answer.

Community could be people living in your neighbourhood or it could be people with a similar characteristic in common e.g. your cultural group.

When we talk about the Community of Shellharbour we are referring to people who live, work and play in Shellharbour. This might be you, your family or your friends.

Health and wellbeing are really important for everyone to consider. Being aware of how we feel about eating well, moving well, thinking well and connecting well is key to ensuring we are able to live life to the fullest!

There are many ways for our wellbeing to be improved. At council we already have many places, spaces and services you can use to improve health and wellbeing.
