What we heard about Health & Wellbeing in Shellharbour

16 November 2022

What we did!

From September to November 2022, we engaged with the community to hear what you had to say about health and wellbeing in Shellharbour.

Over this time period we:

  • Met and heard from over 1000 people.
  • Attended 30 community groups or activities.
  • Hosted four separate pop-up engagements around the city at events.
  • Created two opportunities for people to walk, talk and have coffee with the Mayor.
  • Received 126 Let's Chat survey responses.
  • Emailed 608 people.
  • Reached 3,014 people on social media.
  • Displayed in the newspaper two times.
  • Promoted the project through local schools, community groups, service providers and businesses.

This widespread opportunity to engage led us to speak with people with many stories and from all backgrounds. From pre-schoolers all the way through to retirees and our senior community members. Although we had in-depth surveys and conversations while getting your feedback, the main questions we had to start with for everyone were:

  1. How would you rate how well you eat, move, think and connect?
  2. What can Council do to help improve how you do those things?

    What happens next?

The next steps for this project start with taking the time to dig deep into all the feedback we received. This includes reading your responses, looking for key themes, determining priorities and looking for things Council is responsible for or can influence. We will then create a draft action plan that includes:

    • Key themes for priorities.
    • Actions Council can take to improve health and wellbeing across the city.
    • Partnerships Council can invest in.

Once drafted, we will put this on public exhibition for the community to read and share their feedback on. So stay tuned on the health and wellbeing, let's talk about it page to find out when we get to this stage!
